DAY 1 ON SET - SEPTEMBER 11, 2009
The first day started with a call time of 8am. It was a dreary day but everyone was excited to be on set. The crew had breakfast and everyone was ready to get to work. The first half of the day was spent at The Bread of Life Inspirational Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. Cast members Dike Uzoukwo, Kevin Craig West and David Bynoe were present on set and each gave an OUTSTANDING performance. The room was filled with silence and awe during each intense scene. Kevin West captured some great pictures.
The second half of the day was at Razor Sharp Barbershop in Maplewood, NJ. David Bynoe and De Marco Marjors performed their scene. Even though it was raining outside, everyone was still working diligently and had high energy. David and De Marco gave an amazing performanceSaturday, August 29, 2009
REHEARSAL - August 27, 2009
Rehearsal with the cast was quite a blast on Thursday, August 27, 2009. The night started with a prayer from Dante Brown. Six of the eight cast members were present and they all gave outstanding performances.
Yarc and David rehearsed the opening scene of the film. He roughed him up just a little but, of course, no one was harmed! David and DeBorah pulled us in with their wonderful mother-son interaction. David and Steven rehearsed a scene that really sets the tone for an unfortunate situation that Jeremiah, the main character, encounters. Dante gives a performance that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Dante and David's scene will make the hair on the back on your neck stand. The night ended with David and Kevin's intense heart-to-heart scene. It was a moment that almost made me forget that we were only in rehearsal and not on set.
I say, without a doubt, this cast will give a GREAT performance and will leave everyone wanting more. I'm thankful to have all eight on this project. Everyone brings the script to life in a way I didn't imagine and I'm beyond excited. Please check out the pictures below.

This short film is based on my feature film "You Can't Kill Me...I'm Already" which is based on the short story "You Can't Kill Me..I'm Already Dead" written by my father Ronald Coleman, Sr. It is about Jeremiah Crawford, who's in his last three hours before he's executed. He gets a visit from Reverend Pearl, who tries to get Jeremiah to regain his faith before he dies. It tells the story of a young man who grew up in an unfortunate situation and how he struggled to fight against the odds. The only he wanted to do was help provide for the center of his world; his mother.
I'm shooting this short in efforts to raise the money for the feature film.
When I first read my dad's short story it really inspired me. I would always joke and tell him that I was going to make this story a movie and as the years went by I became serious about it. This story is so important to me because there are so many young males around the world that are dealing with the hardships of life. Many African American and Latino males deal with these struggles but it's a problem that present in males of all races. I'm shooting this to inspire these young men to go down the right path.
